ABSTRACT
The field of (urban) ecosystem services has caused more and more attention in the recent years for politics, (city) planning and science because it connects ecosystems with the welfares the humans benefit from them.
This master thesis gives an insight into the urban ecosystem services in apartment blocks on the example of two different study areas in the city of Salzburg. The definition and the concept of the ecosystem services should initially be understood. The aim of this work is the analysis and non-monetary valuation of biodiversity, microclimate regulation, water flow regulation and recreation services in the field of research. The building structures, the green area proportion and the consciousness of the residents concerning the value of green spaces in the immediate living environment are significant for the analysis and valuation of these services. By using various analytical methods such as mapping or empirical surveys significant results could be made; inter alia that the residents who have more green and open spaces available in their living environment, are generally more satisfied. Consequently the performance properties of urban ecosystem services can be considered better in this area, which may also be relevant for the city of Salzburg and their city planners.
Key Words: urban ecosystem services, ecosystem functions, ecosystem services, urban green spaces, biodiversity, microclimate regulation, water flow regulation, recreation, sustainability, valuation, Geoinformatics

ABSTRACT
Wide-ranging and High-speed Internet is essential in today's society. Businesses need a strong network infrastructure for the exchange of documents, knowledge and also for economic growth. In times of Big Data, Industry 4.0 or cloud computing, these networks are the basis for the digitalization of our society, but what technology is behind it and what opportunities and advantages do they offer? In order to ensure the competitiveness of the companies, the German government implemented a package of measures for the expansion of broadband Internet in February 2014. The objective is to connect rural regions to the fast broadband with the new fiber-optic technology and thus make the regions more attractive for the establishment of companies. Especially small and medium-sized businesses will benefit from the planned expansion as they have registered a significant growth compared to analog working competitors. The long-term aim must be to connect each user directly via fiber optic to have no disadvantages in the international competition.
For many people the term "fiberglass" is quite obscure and they are at a loose end with the value of this technology. This thesis aims to clarify the measures of the federal government, states, municipalities and industry need to be transposed in order to create the necessary incentives for innovation, investment and growth.
